This was a design and build contract for The Beach at Carlyon Bay, a privately funded resort development. This unique development has been constructed on an existing beach at St Austell and initial works included upgrading and widening the existing narrow cliff road, site clearance and demolition of existing structures. Subsequent works included cliff stabilization, temporary sea defences, construction of a permanent sea wall, 50,000 tonnes of rock armour and 230,000 tonnes of beach recharge.
As principle contractor, Jackson has worked closely with the client over a four year period on a series of studies and preliminary designs to establish the feasibility of the scheme prior to starting works.
