Jackson supervised construction of over 1000m of hard engineered flood defence to protect the Port of Ipswich, businesses and residential property in the centre of the county town.
As ECI contractor we contributed significantly to the scheme and co-ordinated input from our supply chain. As Principal Contractor we managed 11 major subcontractors in a very busy, congested port. Enabling works included significant cable diversions and setting up a safe system of work adjacent to Network Rail. The main works included the construction of brick clad sheet piling/precast concrete flood walls; road raising and realignment and the construction of a Secant piled seepage cut-off in a fuel storage depot.
Co-ordination of multiple subcontractors on two linear sites straddling the river required meticulous planning and supervision. Managing access and operational requirements of the port authority and their tenants meant continuous liaison was central to the project's success.
