This involved the replacement of two bearings on North Pier Five of the Orwell Bridge which carries the A14 over the River Orwell in Suffolk. The bridge deck had to be jacked 8mm in order to remove and replace the bearings and this required the bridge to be closed over a weekend in order for the work to be carried out. Due to the time restrictions associated with the road closure, the working area at the top of the pier had to be wrapped and heated in order to allow the cementicious grout to set in time to re-open the road on Monday morning.
