Welches Dam Pumping Station

Welches Dam Pumping Station

This was a contract to refurbish an existing pumping station which provides flood protection for 700 homes in the Washes area in Cambridgeshire.

Originally commissioned in 1948, the pumping station transfers water from the Counter Drain to the Ouse Washes in periods of heavy rainfall.

The bulk of the work involved removing the old diesel engines, pumps, fuel pipework and associated control systems and installing four new pumps, associated pipework, motor controls and switchgear for the new pumps.
