Boston Waterways Project

On a sunny March afternoon our Chief Executive Richard Neall joined assembled dignitaries and Michaela Strachan, to celebrate the completion of another successful contract and open the Boston Lock and surrounding areas for public use.
The Boston Lock project is the first phase of the Fen Waterway Link, the largest, most ambitious inland
waterways project in the UK for 200 years and the
largest externally-funded project the Environment Agency will manage.
The project for Phase 1 comprised of:-
- A lock allowing navigation between Boston Haven and South Forty Foot Drain
- Upstream and downstream moorings
- Offices, café, shop and visitor centre in renovated cottages
- Scour protection of downstream apron
- Local environmental enhancements
- Remote fish and bird refuges and angling facilities
