A14 Orwell Bridge Bearing Replacement Phase 3

The scheme comprised permanent works to replace the existing bearings to the south box on Piers 12, 13 and 14 of Orwell Bridge on the A14 near Ipswich.  This included temporary works to jack, support and restrain the bridge deck to allow the bearing replacement to be undertaken.

The scheme also involved the removal of a heating system currently installed on the bridge, the sale of its components and the reinstatement of the compound that contains the generators for the heating system.

Associated works include traffic management in reduced running lanes with occasional short term road closures.
