South Bridge Footbridge

Design and Build contract for a steel framed cable-stay footbridge on piled foundations.  The bridge, which formed part of the regeneration of the Inner City of Northampton, links Far Cotton and Becket’s Park with a 35m span over the River Nene.

The project was extremely high profile, forming a new ‘gateway’ feature for the town.  Both the Borough Council and the public had significant interest in the development of the works, therefore information and liaison were key issues.

The works being both town centre and over a navigable river, required specialist attention relative to planning and programming of the construction process.
