The works were located on the northbound carriageway tolls on the approach to the DartfordRiver crossing and to the south of the QueenElizabethIIBridge at the southbound tolls on the A282 in Kent.
Works included the removal of the existing concrete deflector mounds and steel frames, and installation of an energy absorption cushion, reinforced concrete deflector mound and steel protection framework in advance of tollbooths on 12 northbound lanes and 4 southbound lanes. A unique Temporary Vehicular Crash Barrier was designed and installed in order to provide protection to the booths and the workforce until such time as the permanent works had been completed.
The works were carried out during restricted night time working under temporary lane closures.
