Shutdown works over Christmas break to facilitate construction of new model variant. Works included steelwork fabrication and concrete works within the centre of the factory. Redundant machine pits filled with stone, holding down bolt installation, structural steel erection, structural flooring, placement of reinforcement steel and concrete placement all within a confined space within the factory.
The project was ever evolving with design and programme to suit the client and their commitments to the supply of cars to the European market. With the changes of the open book approach taken, we offered a cost effective solution to the client. The original design called for shear connectors within the slab and due to the design of the present floor already being at limit state the structural steel goalpost design came out of a value engineering exercise between ourselves and our designers.
