Construction of a new interchange bus station providing connection facilities between London Buses, British Rail and Croydon Tramlink services. Works included a new concrete block reinforced earth retaining wall and the subsequent filling of a sunken grassed area and decommissioning, by filling, of existing pedestrian subways for the development of a new bus station adjacent to the Croydon Tramlink.
The bus station substructure comprised of a 300mm thick reinforced concrete ground slab to cap the filled area which was then surfaced with block paving. Works to the waiting shelters comprised the fabrication of bespoke circular support steelwork that then received laminated coloured glass. An accommodation building for bus company staff was also fabricated and constructed in the same style as the shelters.
