This 50 week project was constructed in two sections and involved firstly the construction of two hybrid rock/precast concrete reef structures, complete with concrete ramps over the landward end. Imported dredged sand and shingle was used to raise beach levels. The project involved installation of steel sheet piling and an insitu concrete apron, re-facing of the existing sea wall, and extension of the existing timber groynes with rocker armour.
The second section was the promenade work and included construction of a coastal walkway along the public section of the project, involving the removal and subsequent replacement of 120 beach huts following completion of works.
