Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Southern Region

Due to increased workload we are now recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Southern team to work in West Sussex/ Surrey/ Hampshire and Kent

Key Responsibilities

Responsible to a PM and Regional CM for all commercial post contract aspects of a Civils/Highways contract ranging up to £15million
Provide liaison with clients, PQS and senior staff for effective communication and commercial progression of the contract
Demonstrate high level of commercial and technical knowledge and work closely with stakeholders for the safe and successful delivery of contract
Support and mentor junior staff
Maximise cash flow through timely submission of applications, invoices and receipt of payments
Cost control, monitor resources and costs, reconcile contract allowances and variations. monitoring Identifying contract risks and evaluate options with the delivery team to evaluate, monitor, mitigate risks and maximise opportunity
Change management; raising notices, the timely submission and settlement of CEs
Procurement of sub-contractors, including negotiation and preparation of sub contract documents, managing and agreeing final accounts
Assist in the preparation of documents for resolution of disputes (adjudications / arbitrations and the like)
Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedure

Skills Required

We’re after an ambitious individual with great communication skills, who is confident with a flexible approach.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate innovative approaches to problem solving and the ability to negotiate across the various levels of any construction environment, as well as handle the financial and mathematical demands of the role by possessing impressive numeracy and IT skills
The ideal candidate must possess a suitable qualification and preferably have a professional membership together with extensive IT skills.
They must have a minimum of 8 years’ experience working on civil engineering schemes including Highways and structures with a main contractor. Experience as a SQS working with the NEC form of contracts is also required.
