STEM Ambassador award
Jackson Project manager Darren Blank has been named STEM Ambassador of the Year for Yorkshire and Humber by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
Darren is a key member of Jackson’s STEM Ambassador programme who has gone out of his way to fly the flag for this important initiative in the three years he has been involved. The prestigious award is deserved recognition for his work inspiring and informing the engineers of tomorrow about the benefits of studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects.

Despite Covid rules restricting school and college visits in 2021, Darren carried out around 10 events last year, ranging from virtual sessions on civil engineering and building technology to apprenticeship evenings and career events – all with the aim of reaching out to young engineers of tomorrow and encouraging more talent into the sector.
Through his energy and optimism Darren not only inspires the young people he meets but also his colleagues around the business and several members of his direct team have become STEM Ambassadors in the past year.
