Corporal Hartnett joins Towcester team

The team working at Towcester recently hosted a civil engineer from the Armed Forces.

Corporal Sam Hartnett from the 524 Specialist Team Royal Engineers (STRE) became the latest military personnel to join Jackson on a short placement.

Jackson is in Towcester constructing a new roundabout on the busy A43 on behalf of Persimmon Homes. During his time on site Sam got involved in the setting out and constructing of subsurface drainage systems – knowledge he can take back to his work with the Services.

The experience has exceeded what I expected. I’ve been more involved and learnt more than I would of thought. Regarding the goals of the placement there are number of things I can take away and bring back to the military, improving our methods and also confirming that we are performing works correctly.

Since 2023, Jackson has been proud to partner with the British Army, welcoming active military engineers on fully-funded civilian placements. The initiative strengthens the link between military and civilian engineering and creates a pathway for the future. When personnel eventually transition out of the Army, the skills, discipline, and leadership they bring are directly transferable to our industry, making them excellent candidates to join our workforce.

Corporal Harnett will now be deployed to Belize for six months and we wish him every success in the future..
