When your life needs some structures

Careers here are built piece by piece

As you move through life, you pick up skills, knowledge and ideas that lead you towards different career opportunities.

Few people know their direction from the beginning but each experience helps you narrow your focus and move closer to the path that truly fits you.

One way Jackson helps is by offering various entry points into construction at key stages in your development, when the idea of trying something new appeals.

An early opportunity to get a taste of the industry is through our tailored work experience programme when you are still at school. When you leave, you could make a bigger commitment through an Apprenticeship, or one one of our undergraduate placements.

Whatever stage in your life you decide to join us, you’ll learn a lot about civil engineering and quite a bit more about yourself.

Everyone learns from everyone else in a diverse workplace.

Work experience

What really goes on in our workplace every day?

We regularly host work experience students, either on site or at head office.

In an office-based role, you’ll see how £multi-million engineering projects are created – from winning the work to figuring out how it’s going to be completed to a deadline and a budget.

On site you’ll shadow one of our engineers, helping with some of the technical tasks they carry out, or spend time with the commercial team who manage the costs, contracts, and financial risks of construction projects from start to finish.

Work experience for schools placements usually lasts one or two weeks. Apply through your school or through the early careers e-mail.
