Behaviours are the foundation of leadership in Jackson
We invest in developing employees’ awareness, understanding, and advocacy of business behaviours to enable them to develop rewarding and successful careers that contribute to our team’s success.
We implement a business-wide behavioural programme for all employees that also helps to identify potential future leaders of the business. It’s an important part of day-to-day life here but it has a management and career value too.
We provide all employees with insights profiling and feedback within six months of starting with us. Team and individual behaviours are also actively tracked through regular performance reviews and the HR team provide ‘Behaviours in Action’ sessions to bring the Jackson behavioural blueprint to life.
For all projects over £5m we also run behaviours start-up sessions to embed the approach from day one and align the team with the project goals.

Leadership aspirations
Our Aspiring Leaders programme identifies the leaders of the future, giving you the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for taking the business further.
The programme comprises a series of workshops exploring themes and skills in leadership. It combines support for those new to managerial positions and development for more experienced people managing teams and developing the business culture.
Aspiring leaders learn how to adopt strategic attitudes and manage in a focussed and productive way. They also learn how to develop leadership styles, how to manage for performance and how to develop and implement plans that will contribute toward the company’s growth.

The next stage on the journey, our leadership development programme broadens developing leaders’ skills enabling them to build high performance teams in the business.
Through additional workshops with follow-up sessions, it explores specific leadership development skills including increased definition of leadership style, developing team behaviours, increasing team engagement and the stakeholder collaboration needed for success.
Senior Leadership Team development and coaching
Our senior leadership team meets throughout the year – both onsite and offsite – to review progress, share challenges, and support ongoing development. We also invite our behavioural specialist to selected sessions to deepen our leadership capability and ensure our growth aligns with both individual needs and the wider goals of the business.
Sessions go in depth to uncover and address development needs and coach everyone on the team on their continued leadership of the business.

I joined Jackson as a Site Agent in 2001 and gained the right balance of experience and responsibility that allowed me to progress through the ranks to Managing Director in 2019.
