A Jackson team is making good progress on a town centre regeneration scheme in Folkestone, working on behalf of Kent County Council.
Thanks to a successful Folkestone & Hythe District Council (F&HDC) bid to government, the project will use up to £20 million of funding to transform the heart of the coastal town.
The Folkestone – A Brighter Future project has a number of components, which includes significant improvements to the road system around Folkestone Central rail station and better signage and improved links to the town centre for pedestrians and cyclists.
It will also bring changes to the road network in the town centre area to help reduce traffic speeds around the town and create a much more pleasant pedestrian-friendly environment. Other public realm improvements involve alterations to the existing drainage networks, street lighting and landscaping.
This includes replacement of the current bus station in Bouverie Square with a new park that will create a new ‘green heart’ for the town. The area can be used for events or simply for residents and visitors to enjoy the new greenery.
Jackson has been working on the site since April of this year and is expected to complete all elements of the scheme during 2026. The team has been working closely with KCC and F&HDC to inform stakeholders and the public in advance about planned works, with a dedicated public liaison team providing a tailored approach.
