Portfolio Manager

Location: Tamworth

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Portfolio Manager in our Collaborative Delivery Team (CDT) working out of our Tamworth office. The working pattern is Monday to Friday (40 hours per week) and the role offers hybrid working with up to 2 days per week working from home – although some flexibility is required to accommodate co-location days with our clients. The main purpose of this role is to be responsible for managing various Environment Agency (EA) projects, providing considered technical advice into various construction projects in the Lincs and Northants area. The postholder will form part of the CDT and it is expected they will attend in-person meetings and maintain a regular presence at Tamworth Office and our own regional offices for integration within the team and wider business.

Key Responsibilities

Build and sustain positive working relationships with our clients and teams; maintaining high levels of visibility through co-location days.
Monitor and influence the performance of contracts issued under the EA’s Collaborative Delivery Framework (CDF).
Support the development of business opportunities and proactively manage relationships for a range of clients including EA and Risk Management Authorities (e.g. Local Authorities, Water Companies etc.).
Provide support and assistance to all departments within JCE.
Provide considered technical advice for construction projects including buildability, health and safety and sustainability issues, drawing upon your construction experience and lessons learned to support the development of viable projects.
Manage involvement in construction schemes efficiently and effectively with regard to budget, forecast, programme and profit.
Develop method statements, hazard risk assessments and project management plans.
Monitor contract costs against agreed budgets and provide accurate financial reports.
Preparing and monitoring programmes of work and the assessment and engagement of sub-contractors.
Effectively manage design co-ordination to ensure project deliverability and best value for our clients.

Skills Required

The ideal candidate will be proficient as a user of Microsoft Project and have a good working understanding of the NEC suite of contracts.
We’re after someone with good communication skills who has site experience involving planning and managing civil engineering projects such as environmental, water and flood management. You will also possess technical report writing ability and be able to produce and maintain contractually compliant construction programmes.
You will have a good understanding of design process and management and be able to support project development through design stages, drawing upon your experience to address delivery issues.
You must have a full UK driving licence
Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
