MP visits site of emergency works in Derby
A Jackson team has started emergency erosion protection works to the intersection of the River Derwent and Dam Brook in Darley Park, Derby
Following the high number of storms this season, the area has suffered significant damage, exacerbated by a number of trees coming down in the high winds. This has created a large scour pool, which now requires urgent intervention to protect the structural integrity of the river bank and the foundations of flood defences along Folly Road.
Enabling works to establish the working area and provide safe access for operatives and park users began on 9th January. Riprap stone is being installed to reinstate the lost areas of river bed and the west bank.
The team recently showed MP for Derby North Amanda Solloway around the site and answered her questions about the work, which is being carried out on behalf of the Environment Agency.
