Team donates
to youth boxing club

A team overseeing work on the A249 Grovehurst Road Junction Improvement Scheme near Sittingbourne has donated £5,000 to a nearby youth boxing club.
Swale Gloves Amateur Boxing Club is based at Kemsley Village Hall, a short distance from the works, which Jackson is carrying out on behalf of Kent County Council.
Senior Project Manager Richard Du Preez and Public Liaison Officer Shannon Acton-Brown recently went down to a club training night to hand over the gift.
Over 70 youngsters regularly train with Swale Gloves. The under-10s get involved in games and sessions aimed at improving fitness, while older children start to box and take part in competitions with young boxers from other clubs. The club has produced a number of England champions over the years - both boys and girls.

Head coach John Williams started the club 16 years ago.
He said: “There’s not much for kids to get involved in in this area, so we do see some anti-social behaviour. This club is all about giving the local youngsters something positive to do."
The donation will be used to buy equipment and to provide training for some of the coaches, so they are qualified to work in the ring corners at competitions.
