Ground stabilisation
at Gateway 14
The Jackson team is making good progress constructing the infrastructure for the Gateway 14 business park near Stowmarket in Suffolk.
Recently, they have been carrying out ground stabilisation - a process of breaking up the soil, adding cement, moistening and compacting - to strengthen the subbase for the road network at the site.
Contractors Tru Earthworks and JJ Mac Ltd have been brought in to carry out the work.
Using big plant to do the job, the skilled drivers use GPS technology to ensure that the final layer is exactly the right depth - within 10mm - before the tarmac layers are added.
