Video: Installing sheet piling
on the M11
A team from Jackson’s Highways Division is overseeing an embankment stabilisation project besides the M11.
The embankment had previously slipped with geotechnical surveys showing the cause was likely a drainage failure.
Currently, the work, near the junction with the M25, involves driving a wall of 250 steel piles into the top of the embankment. This will provide a stable support from which to rebuild the embankment while also installing new drainage pipes and diverting other services. SPI Piling are carrying out the piling.
The work is taking place at night to minimise any disruption to traffic, as a lane closure on the carriageway is required. Work started in November last year and is expected to continue for several months into 2024.
