The Towcester Relief Road has been officially opened.
A Jackson team constructed the northern section of the relief road and the roundabout on behalf of Persimmon Homes with approval from National Highways.
The new road, which will connect the A5 to the A43, has been designed to divert traffic from the town of Towcester, alleviating traffic pressures on the town centre.
A key achievement during construction was ensuring the new road and roundabout were constructed in phases to minimise disruption to the public travelling to major racing events at the nearby Silverstone Circuit. The effective diversion of utility services and the recycling of materials from the previous road were other important successes.
An opening ceremony featured representatives from Persimmon Homes, local councillors and Sarah Bool MP attending the event.
Jackson Project Manager Jason Gibson said: “We are proud to have delivered the roundabout and a section of the relief road within the agreed deadline, working with stakeholders on early advanced works to ensure disruption on the A43 was kept to a minimum.”
